TANII Schemes

  • 2015-16

  1. Under the TANII scheme 2015-16, Government have sanctioned Rs.1.50 Crore for development of Tamil computing and software. The following projects have been launched for public use by Hon’ble Chief Minister.

        2. Under the TANII scheme 2015-16, Government have sanctioned Rs.1.00 Crore to create a digital library with the collection of all rare documents, books and periodicals. Accordingly the resources were digitalized and uploaded in the website http://tamildigitallibrary.in. It was officially inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Minister on 11.10.2017.

  • 2017-18

  1. Under the TANII scheme 2017-18, Government have sanctioned Rs. 70.04 lakh for developing Tamil text and speech computing tools which includes Grammar Checker and assistive aids for the visually challenged person. This will be more useful for the children as well as adults to learn and use more appropriate vocabularies and grammatical rules. Speech processing tool will also be developed as an assistive aid for the visually challenged people to read and write with ease.

  2. Under the TANII scheme 2017-18, Government have sanctioned Rs. 72.72 lakh for Sentence Patterns, Structures and Rules in Tamil for Machine Translation. The main aim of the project is to identify the sentence patterns, structures and rules in Tamil as classified in English.

  3. Under the TANII scheme 2017-18, Government have sanctioned Rs. 1.05 Crore to digitize and catalogue of palm-leaf manuscripts in Dr.U.V.SwaminathaIyer library, Directorate of Indian Medicine & Homeopathy and International Institute of Tamil Studies. It disseminates the information of Tamil Traditional Medicines and Literature to the public.
